Luke Gray began playing the piano at age seven. Since graduation in 2007, the Boulder County native has continued to expand his love for music. While studying at Azusa Pacific University in California, Luke completed a fine arts degree in Music Business. There, Luke continued his piano studies with lessons, classes and performing groups. ith this degree, Luke moved back to Colorado and began working with the popular local 13 piece horn band, Funkiphino. Luke worked for Funkiphino as a sound engineer and road crew manager. After two and a half years with the band Luke began teaching elementary music and middle school band and choir at Rocky Mountain Christian Academy in Niwot. In addition to teaching music at RMCA, Luke has taught private piano lessons at Guitars Etc since 2007. His exposure to the piano goes far beyond childhood lessons and he would love the opportunity to share his knowledge and passion for music with you and your little ones. Through weekly half-hour or hour lessons his students study the theory of music and practical musicianship to better develop an ear for pitch and tone. His students learn various pieces from the classical era to modern day jazz charts. Using weekly practice homework of scales, chords and pieces, Luke will patiently help and challenge you to become a better pianist. Luke believes that music is a universal language and that can transcend culture. Every child can say that he or she has been exposed to music, but fewer children today have had the chance to experience music first hand. While continually trying to be surrounded by music, Luke’s experience and education keep his deep interest fresh. Luke currently lives in Longmont and finds the most enjoyment while traveling, taking photos, experiencing new things with his wife, friends and family.
